Publisher’s Description: Painted Bride Quarterly publishes only the best established and emerging writers. We’ve published Pulitzer prize winning poets such as Stephen Dunn, Yusef Komunyakaa and Ruth Stone, have been one of the first magazines to publish new talent such as Nick Flynn and Major Jackson, and we take just as much pride in the fact that we have been many new authors’ first publication.
The philosophy of the magazine is not to limit itself in terms of voice, school or genre; in fact, both the local and national writers PBQ has published over the last three decades extend from the most traditional to language school explorations. We believe PBQ best represents the individual voice, however traditional or exploratory it may be.
